Castle Mountain, Goat Plateau Traverse

Guided scrambles in the Canadian Rockies with Cirrus Alpine Guides

The Goat Plateau Traverse on Castle Mountain is a great one day adventure and offer views of the Bow Valley, Mt Storm to the west and the Louise Group to the north.

We hike up to the fire lookout and then scramble up to the bench at mid mountain.

The traverse follows the bench passing the Castle Mountain Hut traveling under the towering lime stone upper walls. Early season there are short snow slopes to manage so we bring a snow tool.

There are two short scramble sections along the route, most of the route is hiking on a scree trail in the alpine.

We provide helmet, harness, snow tool. Guests will need solid hiking boots, ski poles, rain gear, day pack, camera, lunch and water and your ready to go for a fun day out.

We head out from the trail head by 7:00 hopefully missing any late day showers on the descent.
