Ice Climb Athabasca Glacier

Ice Climb Athabasca Glacier

This a great way to explore the Athabasca Glacier and mountains up close, we will see mill well holes, crevasses and ice falls. The ice climbing is easy and fun and anybody can try it.

We start our day hiking up the glacier to the first bench of broken ice.
Here we set up a top rope and with a little instruction you are ice climbing.

Its about a 5 hour day car to car with about 3 hours of hiking.
We provide all the climbing gear, harness, helmet and ice tools.

For this trip you will need sturdy hiking boots, a day pack, a warm layer, rain gear top and bottom, gloves, lunch, water and camera for the day. Hiking poles are recommended.

The Athabasca glacier is 2.5 hours from Banff and 1.5 hours from Lake Louise
We meet early in the morning and are back late mid day.
