Introduction to Backcountry Touring

The Canadian Rockies and Columbia Mountains are famous for backcountry touring with endless amounts of options.
Whether your objective is to ski untracked powder or to get away from the mechanized ski hills this two day course will introduce you to one of the fastest growing winter activities in Canada.

Over the two days we will cover:
- Options, limitations and use of backcountry touring equipment
- Safety in the backcountry
- Planning a backcountry trip
- Avalanche safety and companion rescue skills
- Up hill track setting and walking skills
- Down hill skiing and boarding skills
- Terrain selection and how to find the powder.

This course can also be run as a one day program.
