Managing Avalanche Terrain

If You have taken your AST 1 and your heading into slack or backcountry avalanche terrain then the Managing Avalanche Terrain (MAT) course is the next step for you.

The MAT is a very focused one day field-based course designed to expand on the terrain management taught in the AST 1 course, and to develop more advanced winter backcountry travel skills. This course will help you mitigate your risk by honing your terrain evaluation and travel skills.

Course includes MAT Certificate provided by Avalanche Canada.
The AST 1 is a prerequisite for this course.

For skiers and split boarders with some previous backcountry traveling experience.
You will need to provide all your own avalanche safety and travel gear, lunch and transportation.

Dates 2019:
Feb 3rd or 10th in Golden BC

Meeting at 8:00 and heading out to a local tour, finishing up around 5:00.

Avalanche safety gear, transceiver, shovel and probe is available as a rental
package for $40.00 for the day.
